Adult Education (aka
Spirited Learning)
We study and explore theological and world topics through
Sunday morning classes (aka Spirited Learning), Bible studies, book groups, and seminars.
On Sunday mornings, we
will present one – and often two – “mods” for adult learning and
exploring our faith and life. They
will begin at 9:15 and end at 10:15, in time for you to visit, gather up
children, and get settled for worship.
Normally one mod will
take place in the West
Room (on the upper level of the Education Wing of the church, at
(surprise!) the west end of the hall). A second mod may take place
in the library (on the lower level).

Youth Education
Our vision is that children and youth of St. Luke will
experience the love of God within this faith community. Here, the
Christian story will take on meaning and relevance for their lives so they
become persons of faith: biblically literate, prayerful, seekers of
justice, equipped to reflect on moral decisions in the light of faith.
Senior High Mods,
a St. Luke phrase for Sunday School. Youth grades 9-12 will meet two or
three Sunday mornings a month. Mods will be participatory, sometimes going
off site.
Confirmation
is a two year program for youth in 9th and 10th
grade. If, for whatever reason, a senior high youth did not participate in
Confirmation, they are welcome. The goal of the Confirmation/Commissioning
Program (CCP) is to provide young people the opportunity to explore in a
variety of settings and formats what it means to be a disciple of Jesus
Christ in the Presbyterian tradition. This year we will be meeting on
Sunday mornings, twice a month.
Middle School (Youth
in 6th-8th grades) meets every Sunday at 9:15. The curriculum
involves guest speakers, service projects, and activities related to
themes in the letters of Paul and John and other writing of the
Christian Testament.
Children's Education
Children
K-5th grade enjoy a rotation workshop model curriculum
which presents themes and bible stories
through a variety of creative environments. For example, we begin
our “Joyful Journey,” the curriculum’s title, learning about Sarah
and Abraham. Children will experience this story through cooking projects,
art, games, and science. Storytelling, music and drama may also be
included in our learning methods.
A
Nursery
is provided weekly for infants through 3 year olds. When pre-school does
not gather, 4 year olds are welcome in the Nursery during the education
hour. The Nursery provides
childcare for infants-two year olds during the worship hour.
